Growing up my dad worked as a bricklayer, so I always wanted to join the construction industry. Since joining ISG’s graduate programme, I’ve been able to learn about the behind the scenes work that goes into a building – the why and the how – rather than just the actual building of a project, which is what I learned from my dad.
I joined ISG three years ago on the industrial placement scheme working on 5 Cheapside, while completing my degree in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management. It’s a great programme that’s not only challenging, but gives you the chance to network, meet fellow grads and learn from senior management.
Since joining the team, the biggest surprise is realising how key ISG’s role in the city truly is. I’m from Sussex, so it wasn’t until I moved into London that I saw ISG everywhere. Some of the most impressive developments dotted around our city are delivered by ISG, and it’s inspiring to work for a company of this scale.
I would definitely recommend ISG’s graduate programme. The network I’ve developed with fellow grads has been so helpful and has played a big role in my growth. In just nine months, I was promoted from graduate trainee to assistant surveyor, which just shows that ISG really does reward hard work and dedication. I have some pretty aspiring ambitions, and I know ISG will help me reach my goals.
